Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my interest in opportunities with your company. As a fashion merchandising student, I have developed a strong understanding of visual presentation, customer service experience, and storytelling through branding through my coursework and hands-on experiences. These experiences have strengthened my ability to create innovative business strategies to help brands tell their story, while remaining visually compelling.
In addition to my coursework, my experience working in Retail has helped me gain a better understanding of how retail flow operates. As a Bookseller at Barnes & Noble for four years, my job has required me to work in a fast-paced environment and create new displays and upsell products to many of our customers. While working there, I was made the leader of the Manga/Graphic Novel section in our store. My responsibilities included ordering merchandise for that specific section and creating visual store displays to enhance the customer experience. Throughout my years at Barnes & Noble, our manga sales have increased by 15% thanks to my skills in staying up to date on current trends, ordering the newest merchandise, and working closely with my fellow booksellers and managers to create visual displays. Because of my ability to adapt to new working environments, I have learned skills to manage my time more effectively to complete various tasks around my store. Whether that would be making a list of ordering new products for visual displays, or reading through new reports given by BN Corporate, and talking with my managers for any daily tasks/goals, which will help me improve my work ethic overall.
I would greatly appreciate it if we could follow up soon about my position. I have attached my resume to my application, further detailing my education, skills, and work experience. Thank you for taking the time to read through my application, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Michael Serrano
